Is gender just a buzzword? Despite recent advancements, the inclusion of a gender perspective in arms control is still too often seen as a box-ticking exercise, or an ‘add-on’ feature in interventions.
The event will explore ways of making small arms control more gender-responsive. The roundtable discussion will focus on the ways to increase convergence across the Women, Peace and Security, Small Arms Control and Agenda 2030. It aims to narrow existing gaps, leverage lessons learned, and identify meaningful ways to engage across knowledge and practice silos, to further the inclusion of a gender perspective.
Roundtable with:
- H.E. Ambassador Rosemary McCarney - Canada
- Ms. Sylvie Ndongmo - WILPF
- Dr. Mihaela Racovita - Small Arms Survey
- Ms. Manal Taha – USIP
- Ms. Katja Boettcher – UNODA
- Ms. Tatyana Jiteneva – UN Women
