  • violent land conflict in Africa
  • armed violence in South Africa
  • the PoA's 2012 Review Conference

  • improvised explosive devices
  • arms and ammunition at illicit markets
  • illicit weapons in Mexico and the Philippines.

These chapters are being made available ahead of the launch of the next volume in the series, Small Arms Survey 2014: Women and Guns.

The 2014 edition of the Small Arms Survey's flagship publication considers the multiple roles of women in the context of armed violence, security, and the small arms agenda. It will be launched on 16 June 2014 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Its release coincides with the Fifth Biennial Meeting of States to Consider Implementation of the Programme of Action on Small Arms (PoA).
