Peace is one of the five areas of critical importance for humanity in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by the United Nations in September 2015. Sustainable development Goal 16 commits states to ‘promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective and accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
