This Issue Brief, the fifth in the series, examines the proliferation of
armed violence and armed groups in Central African Republic, placing
them within the regional context of increased conflict in Sudan’s Darfur
region and Chad. It sheds light on the debate surrounding a peacekeeping
force for CAR, proposing steps for the international community to
