The Small Arms Survey Global Firearms Holdings Database relies on governments as the most accurate and comprehensive source of information on legal civilian firearms ownership in their territory, as well as firearms of private security services, the armed forces, and law enforcement agencies. In addition to official reports, contacts with relevant stakeholders, research studies, and media monitoring, the Survey relies on information provided periodically by governments through this official questionnaire to ensure our data gathering process is as comprehensive as possible. The questionnaire is available in five languages, all available below. National officials are encouraged to use the version of their choice:
