
Doaa’ Elnakhala
Doaa’ is a senior researcher and coordinator of the Survey’s Security Assessment in North Africa (SANA) project. Previously, she worked as a research analyst at Carnegie-Middle East Center and as a senior researcher at the Technical University of Delft.
Doaa’ has more than twenty years of experience researching the politics of the Middle East and North Africa. She is specialized in conflicts, conflictual borders, and political violence. Doaa’ has authored various publications, including a book chapter on the Gaza Strip border in Mobility and Migration Choices: Thresholds to Crossing Borders (2015) and various policy briefings published by the European Parliament. Doaa’ is also a co-editor of and contributor to Global Jihadist Terrorism: Terrorist Groups, Zones of Armed Conflict and National Counter-Terrorism Strategies (2021), and is currently working on publishing a book on border security in the Middle East.
Doaa’ finished her PhD in comparative politics and international relations (2014) and her MA in political science (2011) at the University of Texas at Austin, USA. She also has a BA in English language and literature (2000) and an MA in international studies (2003) from Birzeit University, Palestine.
