Gianluca Boo is a senior data expert at the Small Arms Survey focusing on data management, analysis, and visualization.

Previously, he worked as a senior fellow at WorldPop, University of Southampton, where he led statistical modeling for population mapping in Sub-Saharan Africa. Gianluca holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Zurich, a postgraduate certificate in GIScience from the VU University Amsterdam, and both an MSc and BSc in Geography from the University of Lausanne. In parallel to his academic career, Gianluca worked as a geoinformatician for a Swiss regional office and as a GIS manager for an NGO based in East Jerusalem.
